Effective Aug. 19, Acme Brick sales offices in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma are offering DuPont’s™ ArmorWall™ Plus Fire-Rated Structural Insulated Sheathing (FR SIS) for commercial buildings.

ArmorWall Detail Rendering

ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS is a five-in-one composite panel that incorporates structure sheathing, fire resistance, air barrier, water-resistive barrier, and a high-performance continuous insulation layer.

“This product can replace several individual components that would otherwise need to be purchased and installed on site separately,” said John Brewer, Acme Brick’s vice president of sales. “We think it will be a real benefit to our commercial customers in the Southwest, and we’re pleased to be their exclusive source for it.”

ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS is fire-rated for up to one hour when tested as prescribed by ASTM E119 and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 263 standards. A second series, ArmorWall SP Plus FR SIS, offers 2-hour fire resistance. (An Acme Brick representative can give more details about fire rating in specific applications.)

Both series of ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS are offered as 48” x 96” panels, in a choice of three thicknesses.

ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E331 standard for water-resistive barriers and the ASTM E283 standard for an air barrier assembly without the need for additional materials. Both barriers, being factory applied, offer greater consistency than field applications.

The ArmorWall™ product family is certified by GreenCircle and can contribute toward LEED credits for sustainable building design and construction.

Once the system is installed, and seams and fasteners sealed, the enclosure may be considered “dried-in.” This allows interior construction to begin right away, speeding construction schedules.

Still another benefit of ArmorWall™ Plus sheathing is the ability to attach many different types of cladding directly to the system: rainscreens, siding, stucco, metal panels, and of course Acme Brick.

Types of buildings that are well suited for ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS include institutional and municipal, medical, high-rise, mixed-use, retail, and multifamily.

Acme Brick operates sales offices in Monroe and Shreveport, La.; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.; and the metro areas of Abilene, Austin, Beaumont, Bryan-College Station, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, Midland, San Angelo, San Antonio, Temple, Texarkana, Tyler-Longview, and Waco, Texas. These locations are the exclusive source for DuPont™ ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS in their areas.

“From our founding in 1891, Acme Brick Company has been serving the needs of architects, contractors, and their clients with high-quality building materials,’ said John Brewer. “In recent years, we’ve gone beyond the brick we manufacture to offer other premium cladding products and installation systems. DuPont™ ArmorWall™ Plus FR SIS is an exciting addition to our product lineup.”
