The “Beyhive” is buzzing like it has never buzzed before. Why? The last few days have seen some big news about arguably THE power couple of the entertainment industry.
First, the leader of the “hive” - Beyonce - made a return trip to her home state of Texas during her record-breaking RENAISSANCE World Tour, with shows in Houston and Dallas. Secondly, she and her husband, Jay-Z, have made a little purchase. Jay and Bey have a new pad in Malibu, and the entertainment media have predictably gone crazy…in a good way.
Before getting to the news, let’s get into some music from the RENAISSANCE tour.

If you’re considering building a new home, brick construction should be high on your list. A brick home can last for hundreds of years, there is little maintenance, and even famous people love them. Click here to talk to an expert at Acme Brick.

A King’s Ransom

According to TMZ, “Jay-Z and Beyonce have just snagged one of the greatest architectural masterpieces in the country ...a 30,000-square-foot home in the prime area of Malibu ... and they paid a king's ransom.
“Real estate sources tell TMZ ... the couple paid $200 million for the property, making it the most expensive home ever sold in the entire state of California ... eclipsing the previous record of $177 million. It's also the second most expensive real estate deal in the country -- the top being $238 million for an NYC apartment.

Just click on the TMZ link (above) to get a look at this amazing home.
“They actually got an unbelievable deal. The home was quietly listed for a whopping $295 million. The house sits on an 8-acre bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the Paradise Cove area ... AKA Billionaires' Row.”
It's also architecturally significant. The home was designed by Tadao Ando, a Japanese autodidact architect whose work includes a notable Texas project, Fort Worth’s Modern Art Museum. Ando is the winner of the 1995 Pritzker Architecture Prize.

The house was owned and built by William Bell, one of the biggest art collectors in the world. It took Bell almost 15 years to build the all-concrete structure.

Beyonce’s Houston Home Also on the Market

It must be Beyonce’s turn this month to be in the “real estate” section of the media.
The Houston Business Journal reported that her early childhood home, located at 2414 Rosedale Street in the Riverside Terrace neighborhood of Houston, is also on the market. Houston media reports that “This brick home was built in 1946 and according to the realtor who sold the home, Beyonce's parents, Matthew and Tina Knowles, purchased the home in 1982 when the soon to be ‘Queen B’ was still a baby. The Knowles family moved out of the house some time before Beyonce's sister Solange was born in 1986, so they weren't there very long, but it's still considered an iconic landmark to music lovers and the ‘Beyhive.’

Beyonce’s Houston home has been featured on the BET and MTV networks and is considered a must-see for music fans visiting the city.
“Beyonce’s childhood home might be a great buy for one of the thousands in the Beyhive,” said Britt Stokes of Acme Brick. “Besides the musical history of her and her sisters, it has all the benefits we love to talk about in homes constructed of brick. It requires little or no maintenance and it’s fire and wind resistant (Houston gets a few hurricanes).
“Since her new home in California is constructed of concrete, Beyonce clearly understands the benefits of having a sturdy home to live in,” he concluded.
Queen B and King Jay-Z have a new hive. It will be fascinating to see what kind of housewarming gifts are bestowed on the couple. One thing is certain, the cool ones will be featured on TMZ! Stay tuned.
